Babies

(<1 Year)

  • 2 thumbs encircling their chest meeting in the centre

  • 5 rescue breaths

  • 30:2 compressions to breaths

  • 1/3rd the depth of their chest

  • 100-120 beats/minute

  • Allow full recoil between compressions

Children

(1-18 Year)

  • 1 or 2 hands on the centre of their chest

  • Choose based on achieving the depth — this is difficult to gauge so if one hand isn’t enough, switch to 2

  • 5 rescue breaths

  • 30:2 compressions to breaths

  • 1/3rd the depth of their chest

  • 100-120 beats/minute

  • Allow full recoil between compressions

Continue until help arrives and tells you they are ready to take over.

The Paramedic will check again for signs of life.

Stay close & wait for instructions.
